Okay, nothing heavy in this blog! Yesterday we went to the Paradise Water Hole on Big Crystal Creek. Definitely one of my favorite places to swim around Townsville! Sadly, the water was a bit low... there was hardly any flow through it. Usually there is enough that you can ride down the rapids if you are feeling agile enough to do so.

Ahh, I have to watch my heart, friends! In some ways, I feel trapped. I have all these conflicting desires within my heart, and the main bulk of them don't feel relevant to where I am, now. The funny thing is, I want to be a missionary, but more and more I am realising that what I am doing does not seem like missions work... this article I recently posted explains what I have been learning regarding missions. That is not to say what I am doing is not important...

So, I've been reading A.W. Tozer's The Pursuit Of God and something really jumped out at me as I was reading, tonight. [caption id="" align="alignright" width="83" caption="The Pursuit Of God"]The Pursuit Of God[/caption]
"A Generation of Christians reared among pushbuttons and automatic machines is impatient of slower and less direct methods of reaching their goals. We have been trying to apply machine-age methods to our relationship with God. We read our chapter, have our short devotions, and rush away, hoping to make up for our deep inward bankruptcy by attending another gospel meeting or listening to another thrilling story told by a religious adventurer lately returned from afar." (p. 45)
How true is this? In my own life, I have tried to follow devotional guides, I have tried to read one chapter of my Bible every day. I, on an average day, listen to at least one sermon, sometimes three or four.

Conflicted 2: What to do?

My life feels like a cycle, sometimes. I remember once hearing someone speak on waves... how everything in life happens in waves, and it seems that way, sometimes, doesn't it? Around and around, up and down, good to bad There are days when it feels like everything is going exactly as it should be going, in my mind. I'm enjoying what I do, I'm satisfied with my spiritual life (not assuming we can separate it from everything else), I'm developing as a musician, I'm getting along well with everyone, I'm finding time for everything. Then there are most of my days, ha ha.

Well, I played guitar for a few hours, this evening. I went over a few songs that I'll be playing on October 14th for Live On The Deck. Also known as Family Night, here at Reef To Outback. I'm a bit nervous, already. Woje asked me if I wanted to play a few weeks ago, and I volunteered... it's something I should probably be doing more of. Performing, that is, or entertaining. Problem is, I'm not that much for acoustic guitar, ha ha. I mean... I play, a fair bit of guitar, but not a lot of it is acoustic.

    I think that word is a good one to sum up what I'm feeling, today. Here's the deal: I want to do too many things, I feel like I'm being pulled in a few different directions, and I'm not sure which way I want to go... because I want to go all of the ways. I'm not even sure if that is accurate, though. I must sound so scatter-brained.

    Alright, so while on camping, I had some opportunity to consider where I'm at in life... taking into account my status as a missionary, what I'm doing at Reef To Outback, my heart for prayer, worship & intercession, and my goals and desires in life. I also had a lot of time to play guitar, and am working on two new songs at the moment, which is great. One I co-wrote with Cheri from Youth Street, and the other started out as an anthem I had stuck in my head randomly one night. Throughout the week, I really felt God behind the billows as my desires as far as music ministry were fanned.
