Okay, nothing heavy in this blog!
Yesterday we went to the Paradise Water Hole on Big Crystal Creek. Definitely one of my favorite places to swim around Townsville! Sadly, the water was a bit low… there was hardly any flow through it. Usually there is enough that you can ride down the rapids if you are feeling agile enough to do so.
I remember on my SOMM we went there at some point, and that's what we did… rode down the rapids, sacrificing our bodies upon the rocks… I love it.
Another thing about the water being so low is the algae gets a bit out of hand up there when there isn't enough flow… it was not really bad, but there was a lot more than usual (at least more than the other few times that I have been up there). Had to be a bit more careful about where we were jumping, too… there were some rocks that are normally okay to jump over that were a couple feet closer to the surface.
I guess a bonus of the water being so low was that it was easy to get down to the cave, even if it's not that exciting and there are a few eels hanging around at that depth… and in the cave. It was cloudy all day so I couldn't see too much in the cave (and I didn't have goggles) but it looked like everything down there was covered in algae.
Today… was a good day off. I've been studying a bit of music theory from a jazz perspective, these days, and I'm really liking it… since most jazz chords have four notes instead of three like I'm used to, it sounds a lo richer. It's fun to play with! I've found the jazz tutorials are often a lot easier to understand and apply than most of the theory/music tutorials I've looked up… even though the music itself seems more complicated. Currently my favorite site is actually based around jazz saxophone… but I'm finding it translates very easily to keyboard and guitar.
Well… I'll keep it short. Have a good one!
