Well the last little while God has really begun to put it on my heart to start playing a lot more worship, again. I used to play in worship bands quite a bit, singing, playing guitar, playing bass… I still do here on base sometimes, but not much. Today I brought my guitar to our prayer time and we sang worship and prayed simultaneously… which is not unusual for us… but it was good
I just feel like I don't know that many songs. I know a few off by heart pretty easy, but I want to learn way more. So I've started going through the two books of worship songs I've acquired over the last 19 months or so and began learning them anew. I really want to get to the place where I don't have to sit there with music in front of me and read the chords & lyrics off the sheet.
Anyways, for the last couple of nights, I've been practicing songs… it's kinda cool because the DTS has been joining in (and a couple staff) and that's been really nice. I'm hoping secretly to sucker them into intercession, too, ha ha, especially as I've started having worship right before intercession, melding them together a little more than we have been.
My un-knowledge of the songs really breaks it up, sometimes, though, so I'll have to figure that out. I feel dumb to have been playing guitar for years, now, and still struggling with simple songs, when I can also play some pretty complex, skilled stuff. Oh well.
Anyways, I stuck this in the Prayer Request category, and I'd love for you guys to pray for me, too: pray that I'd be able to remember the songs, and learn them easily , and that God would really help me out as I'm learning more about guitar all the time. Thanks!
